1. Staffing / Final ARC decision (job postings at ECVI) - The Board of Trustees of the Durham District School Board passed a motion to accept the final recommendation of the East Oshawa Accommodation Review Committee, confirming the initial decision to close Donevan C.V.I. and realign the boundaries in east Oshawa, resulting in the transfer of the majority of Donevan students to Eastdale C.V.I. for September, 2010. The staffing consequences of this decision will mean that approximately 20 job postings will be released to the system this week. In conjunction with this development, 34 secondary teachers were declared redundant to the staffing needs of the Durham District School Board. A meeting for these teachers, conducted jointly by District 13 and the DDSB, will take place on May 27th. Both the union and the employer fully expect the number of surplus teachers to be drastically reduced by the time displacement (bumping) is required, so that only a handful of our members will be directly affected. Both OSSTF and the DDSB will be fully engaged in placing these teachers until that eventuality is achieved.
