Our group has the advantage of being part of the largest Canadian LTD plan for education employees. With approximately 110,000 plan participants, our members benefit from the ability to spread risk across a large, collective pool. This influences the funding mechanism which offers significant stability to mitigate year-over-year fluctuations in experience.
Premium Rate Stability
Through the structure of the pool, LTD premiums have been stable for our members over the past few years. We are pleased to advise that once again this year, there is no change to the LTD premium rate for our group. As a result, the rate for our plan will remain at 0.922% (including PST).
Additional Value-Added Benefits
OTIP is pleased to continue to offer additional services for all LTD plan participants. We encourage all members to access these useful services. A member does not need to be on claim or away from work. Eligibility is automatic. This includes access to feelingbetternow and CAREpath. In addition this year, OTIP has added the CAREpath Cancer Information Line. This new, no-charge service offers cancer information to members seeking assistance and resources on behalf of non-family members. Through this telephonic service, members can obtain information for friends or colleagues who have been diagnosed with cancer or who may be seeking lifestyle or other information related to cancer.
